South KoreaBorn in 1937. Majored in Law at the Seoul National University (1961) and received MA in Administration at the Hanyang University (1990). Had consecutively filled various government posts at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for 27 years. In addition, he served as the president at the Korean Motion Picture Promotion Corporation (1988-1992) and at the Seoul Arts Center (1992). He worked as the Vice Minister at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (1992-1993). In 1993-1995 he worked as Director of Korea Media Rating Board. In 1995-1998 – CEO of MY-TV (Educational Cable Network). In 1998-1999 – Secretary General of Kangwon Asian Winter Games Organizing Committee. In 1996-2002 – guest professor at the Graduate School of Art at Choong-Ang University, in 2001-2004 – guest professor at the Graduate School of Advanced Imaging Science at Choong-Ang University. Since 1996 he is the Director at the Pusan International Film Festival. Kim Dong-ho has been awarded many cultural medals in recognition of his achievements and efforts in the cultural development in South Korea as well as in the international society (Busan Culture Award, Chevalier de l’ordre des Arts et de Lettres from French government, Korea Film Award, Silver Crown Culture Medal, Ministry of Culture Medal form Armenia government, Special Award at the Golden Cinema Festival, Culture & Art Medal ‘Officier’ from French government, UNESCO's Fellini medal, Nielsen Impact Award from The Hollywood Reporter and others). He has served as the jury in the many other prestigious film festivals such as the Rotterdam, India and the Seattle International Film Festivals. He written books «History of European Cinema Policy» (2000), «History and Strategies of Korean Theaters» (2001); «History of Korean Cinema Policy» (written by Kim Dong-ho et al) was published in 2005.
