    Born in 1974 in Myski, Kemerovo region. Diploma in philosophy (Tomsk University, 1998). Graduated from VGIK (2004, class of Vadim Abdrashitov). His filmography includes documentary «Shortest Meetings» (1999), shorts «En Route», «Nina» (2001), «The Dismissal» (2005) and episode from TV series «Kulagin and Partners» (2006). His first full-length feature film «Hard-Hearted» (2007) was recognized as the best debut at Russian Film Festival Kinotavr, where it also received the Grigory Gorin Prize for best script; the film also received the Rainer Werner Fassbinder Prize in Mannheim IFF and the Grand Prix at the IFF Shaken’s Stars in Almaty. His second film «Tambourine, Drum» (2009) won Silver Leopard and Special Prize of the Jury at the Locarno International Film Festival, prize for Best Direction at the Cottbus IFF and Golden Eagle Award (Russia) for Best Female Part.
