Ivanovo, May, 18 – Information Agency “Novosti”, Alexei Mikhaylov. The IV International Film festival “Zerkalo” named after Andrei Tarkovsky will start in Ivanovo on May, 24. Nine of ten movies that will participate in a fiction films competition will be screened in Russia for the first time, - as it was reported by Sergey Lavrentiev, the Head of the Festival Programs.  

«Fiction Films Competition of the IV IFF is very special because of a great deal of premières and a broadened geography of participating countries. Only the Finnish film had already once been shown in Russia; all the rest films will be shown for the first time», - Lavrentiev told.

According to Sergey Lavrentiev, films from Tajikistan, Nepal, Italy, and Iran will participate in the competition of the Festival for the first time. “The film “True Noon” is the only picture made in Tajikistan for the last decade,” – Lavrentiev underlined. Then he clarified that there would be other programs besides the competition of fiction films, namely “New Russian cinema”, “Family Animation Merry-Go-Round”, “Students film of VGIK”.

“The documentary panorama consists of two projects – “The Birth of Art” and “French Film Directors about Russian Art”. Two more programs – “Before ad After Ivan’s Childhood” and “Forgotten Cinema about the War” – are prepared towards the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory. Retrospectives of Andrei Tarkovsky and Alexander Gordon will also be prepared », - Lavrentiev added.

The International Film Festival “Zerkalo” named after Andrei Tarkovsky is an annual event that takes place on the director’s homeland – in the Ivanovo region. The Festival was established in 2007. Screenings are organized in 6 towns of the region. The governor of the Ivanovo region is the Head of the Organizing Committee of the Festival. This year the president of the Festival will be Pavel Lungin - film director, People’s Artist of Russia.
